“Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, the brainchild of singer-songwriter Blake McBride, who continues to lead the band with unwavering passion. Originally conceived as a personal outlet for emotional expression, the project quickly garnered the attention of Blake's brother, Boone McBride, who contributed a second guitar layer to Blake's compositions. Embracing the local music scene, they found open mic events to be the natural stage for emerging musicians to make their mark. As they began performing, fellow musicians eagerly joined in, driven by a shared desire to enrich the band's sonic tapestry. Over the years, the lineup evolved, and today, Native Strange boasts a talented ensemble featuring Blake McBride on vocals, Christian Curtis on bass, Brenden Curtis on lead guitar, Jorge Sepulveda on rhythm guitar, Chris Reynolds on keys, and Nathan Wilson on drums. With the release of their EP, 'D.E.E.P. (Does Everyone Expect Perfection),' under their belt, Native Strange is now in the process of recording their highly anticipated debut album. The band's relentless focus lies in delivering captivating live performances fueled by thought-provoking lyrics that hold the audience's attention long after the final note. Through the creation of deeply personal music and a strong connection with their listeners, Native Strange invites anyone with a passion for genuine artistry to join them on their musical journey.”
Stemming from a brainstorming session for a name, Native Strange comes from the feeling of comfort in the unknown. The smell of a flower you've never before smelled yet brings you memories. A friend in a stranger. A taste foreign yet nostalgic.
We've had the privilege of being involved in multiple successful events hosted by the QuikTrip and the BOK Center, including the NCAA Street Party and the Turnpike Troubadour Block Party. We also performed during the cities "First Friday" for the University of Tulsa. Continually we performed at Tulsa's first Neon Prairie Music Festival '24 and Mayfest '25. Each event drew significant crowds and offered vibrant atmospheres that celebrated music and community. On top of playing locally, these experiences have given us an understanding of how to engage audiences and create memorable experiences through live music.
